It's a quiet sort of book, and one of the most gripping crime novels I've ever read. I managed to put it down, yes, but I didn't manage to pick up anything else until I was done.It's just occurring to me that in many ways it reminded me of The Wire. On a smaller scale, with a smaller cast, but the harsh reality coupled with the compassion for the characters is a similar blend.
Highly, highly recommended.
